This page explains what cookies and similar technologies the Tideform website uses, why we use them, and the choices you have. It works alongside our Privacy Policy and complies with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
01What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device. It allows the site to recognise you on a return visit, remember preferences, or — depending on the cookie — measure how the site is being used.
Some cookies expire when you close the browser (session cookies); others persist on your device for a defined period (persistent cookies). Cookies set by the website you're visiting are first-party; cookies set by other domains the page loads from are third-party.
We also use a small amount of localStorage to remember your cookie preferences between visits — this works on the same legal basis as a cookie and is treated the same way under PECR.
02How we use them
We try to keep things simple. The Tideform website does not run advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or behavioural-profiling cookies. The only cookies you'll encounter here are:
- A small number that are strictly necessary for the site to function and to record your cookie choices
- An optional set of analytics cookies — only loaded after you give consent — that help us understand which pages people read and how the site performs
We do not use cookies to identify individual visitors, build advertising profiles, or share data with third parties for marketing.
03Categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the website to operate. They cannot be turned off because the site won't work without them — for example, recording the very fact that you've made a cookie choice. PECR does not require consent for these.
Analytics (optional)
Help us measure how the site is used in aggregate — most-visited pages, page-load performance, broad geography. The data is anonymised before it leaves your browser and contains no information that identifies you personally. Loaded only with your consent.
That's it. No third category. If we ever add advertising or marketing cookies, we will tell you, update this list, and ask for fresh consent before any are loaded.
04The full list
Below is every cookie or local-storage item this website may set, with its purpose, type and lifetime.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
tf_consent |
Records your cookie-banner choice so we don't ask again on every visit | Strictly necessary · First-party · localStorage | 12 months |
tf_session |
Maintains the form-submission state during a single visit | Strictly necessary · First-party · session | End of session |
_pa_id & _pa_ses |
Privacy-friendly analytics — counts unique visitors and sessions, fully anonymised | Analytics · First-party · cookie | 13 months / 30 minutes |
About the analytics provider
If we enable analytics, we use a privacy-by-design provider that does not use third-party cookies, does not collect personal data, and processes everything within the UK or EU. We're happy to share specifics on request.
05Your consent
The first time you visit, you'll see a cookie banner offering three choices: Accept all, Reject non-essential, or Manage preferences. Until you make a choice, only strictly necessary cookies will be set.
You can change your mind at any time:
- Click the small "Cookies" link in the footer of any page to reopen the preferences panel
- Or clear your browser's storage for
tideform.agency— the banner will reappear on your next visit
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Doing so does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out on the basis of consent before you withdrew it.
06Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block, delete or be alerted to cookies at the browser level. The exact menus differ, but most browsers describe their controls under "Privacy" or "Security" in their settings. Useful guides from the browser makers:
If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may stop working — for example, the cookie banner itself may keep reappearing.
